Detective Samuel Drummy was shot and killed at 2607 N Street in South Omaha while attempting to arrest a wanted subject at about 6:05 pm.
The man was wanted for shooting another Omaha police officer and robbery. Detective Drummy and a South Omaha detective went to a known hangout where they located the man. As Detective Drummy and the other detective approached him the man produced a revolver and opened fire. Detective Drummy was shot in the head and killed. The other detective returned fire and killed the suspect.
Detective Drummy was survived by his wife and five children.
