Officer Ted Davis was killed in a motorcycle crash while escorting nurses and doctors through the streets of Long Beach following a massive earthquake.

The bike struck a pothole in the road on Hathaway and Seventh Street in Long Beach, causing him to strike the ground.

Sergeant Rolland Morton and Special Police Officer Frederick Porter, both of the Santa Monica Police Department, were also killed as a result of the earthquake when the plane they were flying in crashed as they surveyed earthquake damage.
