Police Officer Ira Weiner succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained two days earlier while responding to a domestic disturbance in the 1900 block of West Mulberry Street.

As he entered the residence a subject attacked him with an ice pick, stabbing him 31 times, including over the left eye. The subject then grabbed Officer Weiner's service weapon from its holster and shot him in the head.

The subject then exchanged shots with other responding officers as they arrived on the scene. The suspect was shot several times and killed during the shootout.

Officer Weiner was transported to a local hospital where he remained on life support for two days when his organs were donated.

Officer Weiner had served with the Baltimore City Police Department for four years. He was survived by his parents.
