John A. Dauway

Sergeant John Dauway was killed instantly when he was struck by falling construction debris in front of 66 Court Street in Brooklyn.

He was walking between two court facilities when a weight used to balance construction scaffolding became dislodged and fell 17 stories. The weight struck him on the head, killing him instantly.

Sergeant Dauway had served with the New York State Office of Court Administration for 19 years and was assigned to Brooklyn Supreme Court. He was survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.
