Sergeant Judson Cornwall was struck and killed by an out-of-control vehicle while attempting to push people out of its path.

Sergeant Judson Cornwall was assigned to work a security detail at the Legion Ascot Raceway, and was assigned to the Lincoln Heights Division. At exactly 9:30 PM, a crash occurred involving two race cars, which had locked wheels. The cars skidded into a turn and were unable to stop. As Sergeant Cornwall tried to alert bystanders of the oncoming danger, he was struck and killed instantly.

Sergeant Cornwall had served with the agency for 19 years and was survived by his wife and three daughters. He is buried at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
