Deputy Marshal John Collins was shot and killed when the stagecoach he was riding on was ambushed by two noted stagecoach robbers in Arizona Territory (modern day Arizona). The stagecoach was attacked between Riverside and Pioneer.
Both suspects were trapped by a posse near Wilcox on October 10, 1883. They opened fire on the posse and both were shot and killed.
