Special Officer Jackson Palmer was shot and killed while attempting to intervene in a domestic dispute between a couple at a saloon near 400 NE 11th Street in North Fort Worth.
He had told the couple that he would have to make an arrest if they didn't stop arguing. The male subject left but returned minutes later with a shotgun and shot Officer Palmer in the chest, kililng him.
The subject was indicted for Officer Palmer's murder in 1912 but was never captured or tried.
Officer Palmer had served with the North Fort Worth Police Department for only one month. He was survived by his wife and one son.
