Deputy Sheriff Arthur Herman was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle while rounding a curve on Washington Avenue, between Flett Avenue and Wright Avenue, and crashed into a street car.
He was attempting to locate a prisoner who had just escaped from the Racine County Jail and was en route to the local electric line rail station when the crash occurred.
