Ross F. Brackett

Police Officer Ross Brackett was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect following a robbery-in-progress call at 52nd Street and Walton Avenue.

The suspect wrestled his service revolver from his holster and shot Officer Brackett in the head. The suspect was convicted and died in prison.

Officer Brackett was a U.S. Navy veteran and had served with the Philadelphia Police Department for a year and a half. He was survived by his wife, daughter, mother, father, and two brothers.
