Officer Wilmer Trosclair was electrocuted after responding to a location on Highway 51 for reports of a downed electric wire. As he stepped out of his car to place flares the line came in contact with his car, causing his death.
A passerby notified police of the incident approximately 45 minutes later after driving past the scene and noticing Officer Trosclair on the ground.
Officer Trosclair had served with the agency for three years. He was survived by his wife and son.
