Police Officer Madeline Carlo died of lung cancer that she contracted after inhaling toxic chemicals and materials while working hundreds of hours at Ground Zero, the site of the World Trade Center terrorist attack of 9/11.
Officer Carlo had served with the New York City Police Department for 15 1/2 years and was assigned to the Housing Bureau. She is survived by her son, daughter, grandson, and mother.
