Officer Ramon Suarez was killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks while attempting to rescue the victims trapped in the World Trade Center.

Officer Suarez was last seen re-entering the North Tower after he and another officer rescued a woman who couldn't walk. He was killed when the North Tower collapsed.

He was posthumously awarded the New York City Police Department's Medal of Honor for his heroic actions.

Officer Suarez had served with the New York City Police Department for 16 years and was assigned to Transit District 4. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.
