Officer Glen Pettit was killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks while attempting to rescue the victims trapped in the World Trade Center.
Officer Pettit was a U.S. Navy veteran and had served with the New York City Police Department for four years, assigned to the Police Academy Video Production Unit. He is survived by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
Officer Pettit was posthumously awarded the New York City Police Department's Medal of Honor for his heroic actions.
