Patrolman Officer Christopher Argentinis died two days after being struck by a patrol car during a foot pursuit of a wanted subject who fled during a traffic stop.
He was chasing a drug suspect at the intersection of Onset Avenue and Depot Street when he was struck by a Massachusetts State Police patrol car that was responding to assist him. He was transported to a hospital in Boston where he died from head injuries two days later. His organs were donated after his death.
The suspect, who had outstanding warrants, was arrested after the incident and was charged with cocaine possession and resisting arrest.
Patrolman Argentinis had served with the Wareham Police Department for 12 years. He is survived by his wife and two young sons.
