Patrolman Bobby Williams was shot and killed at 0600 hours after stopping a vehicle that was just involved in a robbery and kidnapping of a gas station attendant.
The driver shot him as he approached the vehicle. Patrolman Williams was able to return fire, striking a tire. The occupants abandoned the car and were apprehended a short time later.
The shooter was sentenced to life without parole.
Patrolman Williams had been with the Adrian Police Department for two years. He was survived by his wife and son.
