Parole Officer Paul Weber was stabbed to death while supervising a parolee who had been asked to move out of his mother's residence in Kansas City.

The mother had come to the parole office and requested assistance removing the man from her home. Officer Weber and a second parole officer went to the home and suggested the man move out. The subject asked if he could retrieve some belongings and was given permission. As he walked through the kitchen, he grabbed a butcher knife and stabbed Officer Weber, who was unarmed, in the chest.

The subject was convicted of assault on a law enforcement officer and first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison on June 8th, 1977. He was denied parole in 2011.

Parole Officer Weber had served with the Kansas Department of Corrections for three years. He was survived by his wife, daughter, mother, three brothers, and five sisters.
