Police Officer Lyle Tracy was killed when his service weapon fell from its holster and discharged at Police Headquarters, 400 Yesler Way. The round struck Officer Tracy in the back and he died of his wound a few days later.
Officer Tracy was a veteran of World War I. He had been a member of the Seattle Police Department for three years. Officer Tracy was survived by his wife, father, and three brothers. His twin brother was also a Seattle Police Officer.
