Game Warden Frank Tompkins was shot and killed in the general store in Clinchport in Scott County.
He was shot twice in the abdomen by a former deputy sheriff and mail carrier who held a grudge against him. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with his murder.
Game Warden Tompkins was survived by his wife, two daughters, and two sons.
