Officer Edgar Alexander was killed in an automobile accident in Rockville, Maryland, while returning from the funeral of another police officer.
He had been among several officers assigned to represent the Metropolitan Police Department at the funeral. On the return trip the patrol car Officer Alexander was a passenger in lost control while driving down Middlebrook Hill. The vehicle struck a telephone pole, causing severe internal injuries to Officer Alexander and another passenger who also died.
Officer Alexander had served with the Metropolitan Police Department for 15 years and was assigned to the Fourteenth Precinct. He was survived by his wife and six children.
