Clayton J. Roney

Chief Roney and the ex-mayer shot and killed each other on a local street in Hartford. The ex-mayer held a grudge against Chief Roney because he and federal officers had raided his filling station several times for violating liquor laws. On the day of the shooting Chief Roney had turned around with the firetruck in the ex-mayors drive way and cracked the concrete. They both met in the middle of street, drew pistols and killed each other.

Chief Roney was survived by his wife and two daughters. He was preceded in death by two other daughters.
