Corporal George Naughton was shot and killed while attempted to talk a barricaded man into surrendering. The man was wanted for threatening other officers and had threatened to shoot anyone who came near to him. Corporal Naughton climbed to the second floor and called for the suspect to come out and talk. The man instead opened the door and shot Corporal Naughton.

The suspect later surrendered after tear gas was fired into the home. He was sentenced to life.

Corporal Naughton had served with the agency for just over 12 years. He was survived by his wife.
