Deputy Murray died from a gunshot wound suffered the day before when he was trying to arrest a man. Deputy Murray succeeded in firing and instantly killing the man after he was shot. The shooter had previously served a penitentiary term for impersonating a federal officer.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
