Officer Edward Monzillo was killed in a motorcycle accident while on duty.

Patrolman Monzillo was assigned to Motorcycle precinct 2, the present day Highway 2. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.

Grandpa, I've heard all of the stories about you from Grandma and your story helps to tell mine; you picked a wonderful wife who never stopped loving you. I look at both of your photographs daily -even the wedding photos- and cannot help but wonder what things would be like if you were here. I will be taking a pilgrimage to NYC soon in the hopes of learning more of your story in the hopes of better understanding mine. Thank you for your sacrifice, Grandpa; I can only dream to be as brave as you were that day.
