Patrolman Frank Mundo was killed when his motorcycle struck an automobile while he was pursuing an unknown vehicle north on Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn.

Patrolman Mundo had served with the New York City Police Department for seven years, and was assigned to Motorcycle Unit 2, the present day Highway 2. He was survived by his wife and eight children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 88th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
