George C. Mitchell

Chief Mitchell was killed when his car collided with a bus near the town of Forestville on U.S. Route 1 while returning from a law enforcement function. He was unable to avoid hitting the bus when the driver swerved to avoid a car that had just pulled out of a local gas station.

Chief Mitchell was survived by his wife and several children.

I know that my sense of right and wrong had to come from you! I thank you for that. I am your granddaughter but we never had the chance to meet, you were taken to soon. I know I would have loved you dearly from all the family stories that I heard growing up.
