View all 6 ReflectionsDeputy Sheriff Roy Milstead and my uncle (also a Floyd County Deputy) were proceeding North on US 27 with their lights and siren on. Just before a small rise in the road, a vehicle pulled out in front of them. Their collision was sudden with no time to avoid the impact. There were numerous injuries including my uncle.
If you are a Deputy or a Police Officer reading this, please drive carefully which also means don't drive faster than you can see. I am amazed at how many of my fellow Officers are killed in vehicle crashes every year. It does not have to happen.
Rest in peace, Deputy Milstead and thank you for your service to Floyd County.
