Dawn Suzanne Erickson

Officer Erickson was struck by a vehicle and killed while directing traffic at a local church's Christmas service in the 2900 block of Unity Drive. The driver of the vehicle had failed to see Officer Erickson who was wearing a reflective jacket and using an orange-tipped flashlight when she was struck by the driver. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was never charged as a result of her death.

Officer Erickson, was working an overtime detail for the department after it was requested by the local church to have officers direct traffic for the service.

Officer Erickson had served with the Houston Police Department for 18 months and was assigned to the South Central Patrol Division. She is survived by her parents, brother, and two sisters.
