I remember the summer evening I was told Uncle Tommy had died. The corn was rising in the field and all of us kids had been playing in it that Saturday afternoon...the innocence of our youth was stripped away that sunny afternoon when many cars with blue lights came up our driveway. When I saw the look in my Dad's eyes when he stepped out of one of the cars I knew his brother was gone forever. My Dad was never the same after that day...it was way too beautiful of a day for some one to die I remember thinking at the age of 7..and then my next thought was I would never see him come to the house to see us girls while he was on duty...you were the most striking thing in uniform Tommy...my sister loved riding the motorcycle with you...I bring flowers to Palmyra because that's all i can do now... your loving niece, Brandi T. Merry
