Private McElroy was injured when his motorcycle collided with a passenger car in the city of New Castle. He was seriously injured and was taken to the New Castle Hospital where he died the following day.
Private McElroy had been with the agency for two years and was survived by his mother.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
