Chief McCullough was killed in an automobile accident. After assisting a child who had been hit by a car, he was following the ambulance to the hospital. On the way to the hospital his squad car was hit by another vehicle and he was killed.

Chief McCullough served in the US Army and graduated from the U.S. Indian Police Academy. He was survived by his wife, son, and three daughters.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 30th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
