William I. McCann

Officer William McCann was shot and killed while to a burglary in progress call. In the confusion of the burglary, the frightened citizen mistook Officer McCann for the perpetrator and fired a shot, fatally wounding the investigating officer.

Officer McCann was survived by his wife, two sons, father, and siblings.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 82nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. You will always be remembered and revered.

You must be very proud of your descendants following your legacy of protecting and serving.
