John Herbert "Bert" McCabe

Deputy Sheriff Bert McCabe was killed when his patrol car was struck by a truck that had veered into his travel lane.

He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Deputy McCabe was a U.S. Navy veteran and served with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office for one year. He was survived by his wife, mother, three brothers, and a sister.

On today, the 75th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
