Lieutenant McAndrew succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained two days earlier when he was attempting to arrest a member of a gang in Dickson City. The suspect was executed by hanging on December 3, 1914. The execution was the state's last hanging before switching to the electric chair.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 98th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, not even 98 years.
