Myron James Massey

Police Officer Myron Massey was shot and killed during a traffic stop near I-20 of a car suspected of being used in an armed robbery and shooting the night before.

During the stop one of the two men inside opened fire, fatally wounding Officer Massey. Both suspects were apprehended. One of the suspects was sentenced to life and other was sent to a juvenile detention facility, that he later escaped from. After his escape he was recaptured and sent to the Jefferson Correctional Facility, where he murdered Alabama Department of Corrections Officer William Donaldson on January 12th, 1990, when Officer Donaldson entered a segregation unit to dispense medicine.

That suspect later committed suicide.

Officer Massey had served with the agency for five years.
