Officer Martial succumbed to injuries received in an accident two days earlier. He and his partner were on patrol when hish partner swerved to avoid a car and struck a curb. The impact caused Officer Martial to strike his head on a gun rack mounted above the windshield. He complained of a headache and went home after taking some aspirin. Shortly therafter he lapsed into a coma and succumbed to a blod clot which had formed as a result of the concussion.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 75th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
