Officer Maco was killed after being pushed from a moving car. Officer Maco was assisting in a traffic detail when he jumped on to the running board of a car which refused his request to stop. As the suspects attempted to drive away Officer Maco fired a shot at the driver before being pushed from the vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries later that day.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 95th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
