Officer Frank Maco was killed after being pushed from a moving car on 7th Street and Penn Street at 11:45 pm.

Officer Maco was assisting in directing traffic when he jumped onto the running board of a car that refused his request to stop. As the suspects attempted to drive away, Officer Maco fired a shot at the driver before being pushed from the vehicle and hitting his head on the pavement. He succumbed to his injuries the next day.

The driver was charged with murder but was acquitted.

Officer Maco had served with the Fort Worth Police Department for two months. He was survived by his wife and daughter, who had turned 12 on the day he died.
