Officer Bob Henry succumbed to gunshot wounds received on March 12, 1995, while checking on a drunk suspect.

The suspect gave Officer Henry a military ID card and then opened fire with a handgun he had concealed underneath his shirt, striking Officer Henry.

The suspect then shot and killed himself.

Officer Henry remained in a coma until succumbing to his wounds one month later.

Officer Henry had served with the agency for 5 years. He was survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.

Salute to you my brother. I was hired at NBPD around the same time as Bob. It still grieves me today that I wasn’t there for you brother. I was relieved of duty a couple months prior. I’m not ashamed. But you called for backup so many times in the past. I had your back, you had mine. I’ll never forget the phone calls from my brothers at the PD letting me know of the tragic event before I saw it on the news. I loved you brother. RIP my friend. Someday we will meet again.
