Border Patrol Agent Luis Santiago was killed when he fell off of a cliff during a foot pursuit of illegal immigrants near the Lower Otay Reservoir in San Diego, California. He slipped on loose rocks and fell approximately 120 feet.

Agent Santiago is survived by mother and eight siblings.

At the main entrance to the Ramey Sector Border Patrol facilities in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico stands retired Law Enforcement Patrol Vessel PB-3 W1002. It was named the Luis A. Santiago and proudly stands as a monument remembering and honoring his sacrifice for his family, Puerto Rico and the USA.
