Trooper Robert Lapp was shot and killed while serving a fugitive from justice warrant on a suspect. As Trooper Lapp and other officers entered the suspect’s apartment, a single shot was fired killing Trooper Lapp. Other officers returned fire, killing the suspect.

Trooper Lapp was a U.S Navy veteran had served with the Pennsylvania State Police for eight years and was survived by this wife and three children.

40 years ago today you passed. Your memory lives on with your fellow Troopers at the barracks, most of whom were not even born that day. We all know who you are and the bravery that you showed. You did not die in vain. Rest in peace Trooper.
