Deputy Lamoreaux died from the result of a freak accident. He was standing between his patrol jeep and a steel gate when the jeep rolled forward pinning him against the gate. He managed to free himself and called for help, but died from internal injuries he suffered minutes after help arrived. It was discovered that the parking brake had not been properly set.

In his 15 years of service Deputy Lamoreaux headed hundreds of search and rescue missions. He was survived by his wife, three children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 44th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Your sacrifice was made so many years ago. Evil was, is, and will be a part of life just as goodness such as yours will also be present. You were a credit to your communty.

Rest In Peace
