Trooper Alvin Kohler was shot and killed in Miami by a runaway teenager while assisting a disabled motorist. A tow truck driver at the scene was also shot and killed.
The shooter was apprehended and sentenced to life in prison.
Trooper Kohler was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had been with the Florida Highway Patrol for 11 months.
