Patrolman Brian Kloka was killed in an automobile crash while pursuing a speeding vehicle.
His patrol car struck a utility pole near the intersection of Broadview Road and Boston Road and rolled over. He was transported to the Akron General Hospital.
Patrolman Kloka had only served with the Broadview Heights Police Department for eight months. He was survived by his wife and sister. His father had served as the Broadview Heights Chief of Police until 1966.
