Patrolman George Kelly was crushed by a 40-ton truck while directing traffic at 40th Street. He was assisting the truck backup when the truck hit a patch of ice and slid into him, causing fatal injuries.

Patrolman Kelly had served with the agency for 12 years and was a veteran of WWI. He was survived by his wife and four children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 75th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.
