After murdering Trooper Pellot, the suspect fled to Indiana where Trooper Kellams spotted the suspect's vehicle traveling through Scottsburg in Scott County and made a traffic stop. As Trooper Kellams approached the suspect's vehicle, two shots were fired, fatally wounding him. The suspect was finally shot and killed when he attempted to run a roadblock.
