Trooper Roy Jones was killed in an automobile accident while responding to assist the Markleville town marshal.

He was responding with lights and sirens when another car pulled out in front of him. He swerved to avoid a collision and struck a tree.

Trooper Jones had served with the Indiana State Police for nearly three years and was assigned to the Pendleton post. He was survived by his wife and three children.
