Officer Roscoe C. Johnston was fatally wounded by a shotgun blast during an armed robbery.

Officer Johnston observed three armed robbers enter the office of a bakery. As the offenders attempted to rob the bakery, Officer Johnston emerged. A gun battle ensued in which Officer Johnston was mortally wounded.
