Patrolman Herbert Johnson was struck and killed by a vehicle while at the scene of a disabled vehicle on Highway 29.

The disabled vehicle was being secured to a tow truck when another vehicle entered the area. He was able to tell the wrecker driver and citizens to move out of the way before he was struck.

Patrolman Johnson had served with the Bogart Police Department for four years. He was survived by his wife and three sons.

40 YEARS THIS PAST DECEMBER 7. I MISS MY DAD JUST LIKE IT WAS JUST ONLY YEARS AGO. NOW HE HAD SEVEARL GRAND CHILDREN AND A GREAT GRANDSON. I PRAY MY DAD KNOWS HOW MUCH HE TAUGHT ME IN 15.3 MONTHS THAT I STILL USE THIS DAY. JOEL AND JESSE MISS YOU AND I REALLY PRAY THEY WILL ALWAYS JUST KNOW THAT THEY HAD A GREAT DAD THAT LOVED US ALL EQUALLY. WE WERE THE REASON HE WORKED TWO JOBS SO HE COULD GIVE US ALL WE WANTED AND LOVE MY MOM LIKE NO OTHER MAN. SHE IS GONE NOW AS SHE WAS ALSO KILLED BY A DUI DRIVER ON THE SAME ROAD. GOD BLESS YOU DAD; WE WILL BE TOGTHER AGAIN ONE DAY.
