Patrolman Johnson was shot in the abdomen and killed while questioning a suspect. The man was convicted of the murder and died in prison in 1952.

Patrolman Johnson was survived by his wife and son.

It's now been 86 years and it's truly heartwarming when I see family members of the victims leave remembrances/reflections, especially years after the event. To know that a family has not forgotten a hero is a wonderful thing.
