Trooper Perley Johnson died as a result of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning while investigating an arson case at 20 Monument Avenue in Bourne, Massachusetts.

Trooper Johnson had served with the Massachusetts State Police for 10 years and was assigned to the Fire Marshal's Office. He was survived by his wife and child.

Please take a moment to honor and remember Trooper Perley K. Johnson, Jr., on this his 42nd anniversary. May he continue to rest in peace knowing that his memory, sacrifice and family will never be forgotten.
Several days after investigating a suspicious house fire on Monument Avenue in Bourne, Trooper Johnson died from smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning. A ten-year veteran and 32 years old, Trooper Johnson was a member of the 51st RTT (1968) assigned to the Fire Marshal’s Office. He leaves behind his wife and child.
