Officer Carl Jessing was killed in a motorcycle accident while chasing a speeding motorist on Imperial Highway in Los Angeles County.

His motorcycle collided with a car that turned in front of him at Firestone Boulevard. He succumbed to his injuries the next day.

Officer Jessing had served with the California Highway Patrol for three years.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 54h anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
