Officer Carl Jessing was killed in a motorcycle crash while chasing a speeding motorist on Imperial Highway in Los Angeles County.

His motorcycle collided with a car that turned in front of him at Firestone Boulevard. He was transported to Syt. Helen's Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the next day.

Officer Jessing had served with the California Highway Patrol for over nine years. He was survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, his father, two brothers, and two sisters.
